Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt is reportedly open to the prospect of joining Manchester United during this summer’s transfer window.
The Netherlands international has been in fantastic form over the course of the current campaign and he recently helped his side secure a domestic double shortly after their run to the Champions League semi-final.
As such, he has been regularly touted to make the switch to long-time admirers Barcelona, but The Telegraph suggests that may not be the case with the teenager yet to reach any sort of agreement with the Blaugrana.
The same publication adds that he could favour a move to Old Trafford despite the absence of Champions League football, considering he wants to be the face of the summer rebuild under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Manchester United were defensively average during the course of the recently-concluded Premier League season and they conceded more than 50 goals while only managing a sixth-placed finish.
