Liverpool vs Tottenham
Liverpool will take on Tottenham in the 2019 Champions League final on Saturday, June 1st.
Jurgen Klopp managed to guide the Reds to the 2018 UCL final as well but they were beaten 3-1 by Real Madrid.
Given Madrid still had Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane at the helm, it wasn’t too much of a surprise that Los Blancos claimed their 3rd successive Champions League trophy.
However, Liverpool are now facing Tottenham who finished 4th in the Premier League.
Liverpool have also brought in Alisson, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri since their defeat in last year’s final.
Unfortunately, Klopp has confirmed Keita will not be playing on Saturday.
One player who will likely be starting in midfield for Liverpool vs Spurs though is Georginio Wijnaldum.
Wijnaldum was crucial in Liverpool’s comeback vs Barcelona. He came off the bench at half time and would score twice as the Reds won 4-0.
The Dutchman has also been speaking to the media ahead of the final.
During the pre-Spurs press conference, Wijnaldum was asked about giving a message to the Liverpool fans, to which he responded:
“A message to the fans? Thank you, for your support! Because of the fans, they make it happen, they make it possible to win that game at Anfield 4-0. I think it would be way more difficult if we’d played that game somewhere else.
“During the whole season they supported us quite good, even after bad results we had they were still there to support us. It’s a compliment to the fans.
“I don’t know what to say to the fans that don’t have a ticket, it is difficult and what can you tell them? That you feel sorry [for them], or something?
“I do feel sorry [for them], everyone deserves to be there, especially if you support your team during the whole season, but that’s something we cannot control.” As quoted by Liverpool’s official website.
